The Great Condom Cover-Up Do you believe condoms provide adequate protection against the sexual transmission of the AIDS virus? Before you answer that question consider the findings of the following scientific studies... * Condoms, when used as a birth control device, fail to prevent pregnancy at a rate of 10% per year of use.1,2 * Dr. Raymond Oliver, a retired surgeon lieutenant who studied venereal disease for the British Navy, Maintains that minute wounds caused by public hairs caught in and pulled-out by condoms are a common conduit for sexually transmitted diseases to enter the body, providing an opportune route for the AIDS virus to infect male users. 4 * Looking for existing evidence to support the use for condoms in preventing venereal diseases reveals a dismal tract record. Dr. C. Horsburgh writes: "Furthermore, there are no clinical data supporting the value and scabies or the transmission of viral diseases associated with semen, such as hepatitis B, Cytomegalovirus, or HIV. 6 * In a study of 97 female sexual partners of 93 men infected with HIV, it was found that " Condom use was not significantly associated with protection from infection. 5" * In the first study designed to demonstrate condom efficacy in actually stopping the AIDS virus, M. Fiscal unprotected sex with their infected partners. Ten other persons in the study did use condoms and despite their use still infected their spouses in three out of ten cases. 3
